Yutaka Sakurai(Head)

Yutaka Sakurai is expert of new technologies including AI, combinatorial optimization problem, and quantum (inspired) computing with a strong background in financial theory and practice. In recent years, he has been focusing on the application of AI to the field of finance, as well as the application of combinatorial optimization problems and the development of related technologies with an eye on the coming era of quantum computers. After more than twenty years' experience of fund manager, trader and quant in Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Sony Bank, he became a managing director of Research and Pricing Technology Inc. in 2010. He started AI Finance Application Research Institute in 2017. He published a number of books on Finance and AI. Since 2018, he has been working on applications of quantum (and quantum inspired) computing.

Fumio Ishizaki(Chief Researcher)

Fumio Ishizaki received the Dr. Eng. from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. From 1993 to 1995, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Kinki University, Higashiosaka, Japan. From 1995 to 2000, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science and Intelligent Systems at the University of Tokushima, Tokushima, Japan. From May 1998 to October 1998, he was a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Information and Computer Science, University of California, Irvine, CA, USA. From 2000 to 2005, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Telecommunication Engineering at Nanzan University, Seto, Japan. From August 2001 to July 2002, he was an Invited Member of Engineering Staff at Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, Korea. From 2005 to 2007, he was an Invited Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Telecommunication Mathematics Research Center at Korea University, Seoul, Korea. From 2007 to 2013, he was a Professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at Nanzan University, Seto, Japan. From 2013 to 2014, he was a senior software engineer at Space-Time Engineering, Tokyo, Japan. His research interests include applied probability, application of quantum computing, queueing theory, mathematical finance, performance evaluation of communication systems, and design/control of communication networks.

Hiroyasu Hirayama(Director)

Hiroyasu Hirayama joined AI Finance Application Research Institute in 2020. Prior to that, he was leading FX derivatives and eFX sales team at Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, RBS and Bank of New York Mellon. He also has developed a credit scoring model and cash flow forecasting model based on machine learning algorithms for trading companies and a market risk management model for a life insurance company at his own company. He holds a bachelor degree of engineering from University of Tokyo and master degree from Tsukuba University.
